France’s Macron to unveil latest plan for meeting climate-related commitments in the coming years PARIS (AP) — President Emmanuel Macron was preparing to unveil Monday how France plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet the country’s climate-related commitments within the next seven years. France has committed to reducing its emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels, in line with a European Union target. To get there, the country must go “twice as fast” as the pace of its current path, Macron said in an interview that aired Sunday night on national television channels TF1 and France 2.Details of his government’s new plan are expected after he meets with key ministers at the Elysee presidential palace on Monday afternoon.Macron announced Sunday that the country’s two remaining coal-burning plants would cease operating and be converted to biomass energy, which is produced by burning wood, plants and other organic material, by 2027. 2 DePaul students robbed on Lincoln Park campus CHICAGO — University officials say two DePaul students were involved in separate robberies overnight.According to the university, the robberies happened between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. on the Lincoln Park campus.According to a news release sent out by the university on Sunday, the robberies happened at the quad near West Belden Avenue and North Seminary Avenue, and at the intersection of West Belden Avenue and North Racine Avenue. Read more: Latest Chicago news headlines University officials say during both incidents, the offenders approached the students and demanded their belongings. During one of the robberies, an offender pulled out a weapon and hit a student with it. Officials did not say what type of weapon was used.Following the robberies the university says it will be increasing its public safety presence on both campuses and Chicago police will be increasing patrols around campus.The university urges students to take extra steps to remain aware of their surroundings.

Saint Louis University Hospital nurses going on 1-day strike today ST. LOUIS - Labor issues at Saint Louis University Hospital are intensifying Monday morning. Nurses at the hospital are set to start a one-day strike in just hours.It will likely be a much different scene later Monday morning as nurses here hit the picket line for 24 hours starting at 7:00 a.m.The union for the SLU nurses, National Nurses United, says the nurses are striking to protest what they call "the refusal of the hospital administration to address the RN's deep concerns about patient care, safe staffing, and workplace violence." The strike follows a 94% yes vote to authorize a strike back on September 1.The union says nurses have given advance notice to the hospital to allow for alternative plans to be made for patient care during the strike. 'Seafood City' market in University City facing $300,000 lawsuit in unpaid rent UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. - A hearing is set to happen Monday after a property owner in California files a lawsuit against the 'Seafood City' supermarket in University City. A lawsuit accuses the market of not paying $300,000in rent.
